My name is Anita and I am a photographer in Wollongong New South Wales born and bred photographer. For as long as I can remember we have always had a camera in the house. I am old enough but also young enough to remember and not fully understand film. My first camera was a film camera, I then moved on to get one of the early point and shoot digital photography cameras.
While growing up photography was always there but, something was always in the way. I was always taking photos whether on a point and shoot or a phone.
In July 2016 I was looking for new adventures, new places to explore locally and some friends. What I found was a photography group called the Veterans Instameet who were shooting the Milky Way at Bombo Quarry. So I decided I would go but had no idea what I needed to do let alone the type of camera I would need. So I started to practice at home and was getting nowhere. I think it was the day before the event I realised my cousin had a DSLR camera and that should be good enough for this shoot. I borrowed his camera and off I went.
That one night with a couple of members of the Veterans Instameet opened my world to a whole new purpose. Since then I have brought my own camera, upgraded it lense, attended workshops in the Illawarra and Sydney, attended Instameets and met new people through both photography and bushwalking.
